The environmental conditions must be considered before purchasing a conveyor. Including temperature, altitude, wind level, earthquake level and humidity.
Generally, the operating environment of the conveyor is -20°C to +40°C. If the equipment is used in a hot or cold climate, you need to confirm with the equipment supplier in advance to assemble the correct components. This is because conveyor belts, motors and reducers made of certain materials may not be able to withstand extreme high or low temperatures. All need to be replaced with cold-resistant or heat-resistant components.
The altitude will affect the value range of the insulation strength and click power of the conveyor motor and the electric control system. Conveyors are usually used in low-altitude areas. If they are used at an altitude of more than 1 km, they need to communicate with the equipment supplier in advance.
Usually the conveyor can withstand winds of level 6 and below. If the wind power of the equipment exceeds level 6, it may affect the safety requirements of the whole machine, and the conveyor needs to add accessories such as wind buckle and rain cover.
Earthquakes below level 4 on the Richter scale will not affect the normal operation of the conveyor, and more than level 4 will affect the safety requirements of the conveyor’s seismic resistance. It is necessary to consider strengthening the strength of the fuselage and the arrangement of the belt conveyor bracket.
How much humidity will reduce the reliability of the motor. When the humidity is less than 90%, the belt conveyor can operate normally. If the humidity is greater than 90%, the conveyor may need to use a heat-resistant motor.
Raw material characteristics
Raw material characteristics include the type of material, the maximum particle size of the material, the bulk density of the material, and whether the material has special attributes, etc.
Types of raw materials
Different materials have different hardness and abrasiveness, which determine the cover grade of the cover layer of the rubber conveyor belt.
The raw material also determines the maximum inclination angle of the conveyor and the speed of the belt conveyor. Such as uncompressed river pebbles, water-bearing river sand is likely to flow back on the conveyor due to excessive inclination. At this time, the output angle of the conveyor should be reduced, and the speed of the roller should also be reduced.
At the same time, the type of material will also affect the selection of other parameters of the belt conveyor, such as the difficulty of cleaning the material on the conveyor belt.

Maximum particle size of raw materials
The maximum particle size of the raw material determines the width of the conveyor belt. The larger the particle size, the larger the width of the belt, and the cost of response will also increase.
Bulk density of materials (t/m³)
The bulk density of materials determines how the belt width and speed are matched and selected, which will determine the power of the conveyor and the total strength of the conveyor belt, as well as the purchase cost of the conveyor.
Special properties of materials
Special materials require exclusive conveyor components. For example, strong corrosive materials need to use chemical resistant conveyor belts. The slag just out of the furnace needs to use a heat-resistant conveyor belt. When handling materials with high water and mud content, the conveyor needs a belt cleaner to clean the conveyor belt.
Conveyor parameter selection
The following conveyor parameter settings determine the selection and price of the conveyor.
The width of the conveyor belt must be larger than the size of the chute discharge opening of the equipment. Appropriately reducing the width of the conveyor belt can reduce the cost of the conveyor.
The lower belt speed has the advantages of low power, difficult backflow of materials and small impact, but it will increase the overall strength of the conveyor belt.
A higher belt speed will change the material throwing curve, and the material will be thrown farther, but the impact of the material on other equipment will increase.
The longer the conveyor belt, the longer the length of the frame, the number of rollers and idlers will increase, and the corresponding motor power will also increase, the higher the cost of the conveyor.
Voltage and frequency
Different voltage and frequency directly affect the price of the motor, and the frequency determines the speed of the motor, which further affects the selection of the reducer.
Conveyor supports & truss
Generally, the truss of the conveyor is divided into standard double-layer truss and single-layer truss. Different trusses have different prices.
Belt conveyor options
A dust cover is installed on the belt conveyor body to control dust and reduce dust spread. Commonly used in applications that generate more dust during work. Such as: mine crushing and quarry aggregate crushing processing site.
The tripper is usually installed at the unloading place of the drum at the head of the belt conveyor. It can gather materials when the belt conveyor throws materials.
The tripper can reduce the impact of the upper belt on the lower butting belt when throwing materials, and the deviation of the material on the belt.
It can also make the material evenly distributed on the belt.
Mainly used for maintenance of conveyors, it is usually divided into single-sided and double-sided. Can be purchased according to the needs of investors.
Optional conditions: For inclined belt conveyors, under normal circumstances the manufacturer or supplier will install a backstop.
Purpose: It is mainly to prevent the belt from reversing when the power is cut off, causing material backflow, spilling or safety accident.
Installation method: Install on the roller shaft or reducer.
Usage: When the conveyor needs an emergency stop, pull the pull switch to realize the belt conveyor shutdown, which can effectively prevent all kinds of belt conveyor accidents.
Installation: The pull switch is usually installed on one or both sides of the entire conveyor (configured with the maintenance walkway)
Function: The speed switch is used to detect the speed of the belt. When the transportation volume is overloaded, the belt tension is insufficient or the cover rubber of the driving drum is excessively worn, the driving drum is easy to slip on the slippage, and the belt speed will be less than the set value. The speed switch will sound an alarm and shut down the machine.
Detection method: detection of conveyor belt running speed or detection of drum speed.
Function: The misalignment of the conveyor belt will damage the belt and idler. The misalignment switch is used to detect whether the rubber conveyor belt deviates from its path.
Installation: Two as a set, installed on both sides of the belt conveyor. Generally, a set of misalignment switches are installed at both ends of the conveyor. If the belt conveyor is longer, a set of dislocation switches is also required in the middle.
