Belt conveyor

Mining and quarry operations may encounter some potential hazards. In addition to heavy equipment such as drilling rigs, earth-moving trucks, crushers, vibrating screens and excavators, there are also certain conveyors that have been constantly carrying gravel or minerals. When a dangerous situation occurs, the safety device/switch on the belt conveyor can effectively prevent the belt conveyor accident and protect the safety of equipment and personnel. This article will introduce 6 safety switches/devices for belt conveyors.

Pull Cord Switch

Belt Conveyor Pull Cord Switch

The belt conveyor pull cord emergency switch is installed on one side or both sides of the entire belt conveyor, and is connected with a rope on the entire belt conveyor.

When an accident occurs to the belt conveyor, the conveyor can be quickly turned off by pulling the rope connected to the switch.

Misalignment Switches

Misalignment Switches

The misalignment switch is used to detect whether the rubber conveyor belt deviates from its path.

When the conveyor belt deviates from the prescribed path, the dislocation switch on the conveyor belt structure will send out a slight alarm or stop signal to minimize the risk of damage when the belt is deflected.

Misalignment switches are usually located at the transfer and load points of the conveyor or in the middle of the long-distance conveyor structure.

Shaft Speed Switch

Conveyor Shaft Speed Switch

The shaft speed switch can be used to detect the speed change of the conveyor roller (rotating shaft). In many cases, the conveyor belt maintains a relatively constant speed while working.

If the conveyor encounters unnecessary deceleration or even stops completely, the shaft speed switch will sound an alarm, trigger an alarm indicator and/or shut down the machine before damage occurs.

The shaft speed switch can make the conveyor have a longer service life, reduce downtime, reduce maintenance costs and material waste.

Chute Block Switch

Chute Block Switch

Conveyor blockage detection switch is used to detect the blockage of conveyor chute in quarry, mining field or material processing plant.

It is usually installed on the side where the material in the discharge hopper cannot be thrown.

Belt Tear Detection Switch/Rip Detector

Belt Rip Detector

Belt Tear Detector is a device to detect the tear of the rubber belt. It is installed under the conveyor belt and close to the non-working surface of the conveyor belt.

When the tape is torn, even if there is no leakage of material, the sinking part of the tape will cause the tear detector to send a stop signal.

Belt Conveyor Backstop

Belt Conveyor Backstop

The backstop is an anti-reverse device installed on the belt conveyor to prevent reverse movement of the belt and avoid safety accidents. It is installed on the roller shaft or reducer shaft of the conveyor.

This anti-reverse device needs to be installed on both inclined conveyors and land conveyors.
